Agriculture Resource Management: County Agricultural Inspector

The Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District has contracted with Dakota County to act as the County Agricultural Inspector (CAI). The CAI position was established to provide leadership and supervision in the enforcement of the noxious weed law. A noxious weed, as defined by Minnesota Law, is an annual, biennial, or perennial which is deemed by the Commissioner of Agriculture to be injurious to public health, public roads, environment, crops, livestock, and other property.

The CAI serves as the primary technical support to the local weed inspectors or assistant weed inspectors. The local weed inspectors are the supervisors of each township board and the mayor of each city within their respective municipalities. The CAI also serves as the liaison between the commissioner of Agriculture and the local weed inspectors.
